Had a chat with a Kuoni rep this morning concerning a holiday to sri lank and then to the maldives, sri lanka airways being quoted as airline.

I asked the rep if sri lanka flights were any good, having heard other people making complaints about the standard of the seats and service ect, now I now his reply is going to be biased, but he also said that emerates bought out sri lanka airways a little while ago and all the niggles have been sorted out, and the service is now what you would expect from a decent airline.

So is this bloke pulling my plonker, or is this the case, anyone travelled with them recently??

I think the rep has just inadvertently sold you an Emirates seat. They do Columbo and Male.

thanks, thats an interesting site, and it doesn`t seem to bad really, Emerates doesnt come out so well either on the most recent reports, and looking at the economy seat guide, sri lanka does have a few good reviews.

the trouble is most people only bother to report/ write a review when they are unhappy about the service and not the other way around?

decisions, decisions.........

If Sri Lanka is direct, this may swing your mind. Having done the trip twice on Emirates via Dubai (once from Bham with 4 hour middle of night stops) - I think I'd rather the easier trip.

However, Emirates in flight service is very good in economy.

Sri Lankan airlines and Emirates used to be linked but not anymore, sometimes you could be flying either between Male ,Columbo and Dubai.

Emirates is the better, food and services. I've only ever flown business with Sri Lanka recently and their not as good as Emirates. Economy I don't know, I flew many years ago to Columbo with when, they were then called Air Lanka. They were pretty good but the food was very much Asian, curry and stuff, They may of changed.

I used Sri Lanka Airways in feb this year, London > Columbo > Male > Columbo > London and it was fine.. Food was good, lots of curry and spicy food, drinks were all free and flowing much more than Emirates imo.., plus it's a direct flight saving 4hours traveling!!

I recommend The Fortress in Galle *Sri Lanka* it's well worth the money!!
