I've been asked to work in Russia over the next month and I've noticed that I need a business visa.

The process looks a pain. Has anyone got any hints/tips in what I need to do and the best way to obtain one i.e 3rd party company or the Embassy direct etc and there seems to be varying costs!

Not done a Russian one (although did briefly look at it from the perspective of a tourist one for holiday next month, but decided to stick with the cruise organised tours as not enough time to sort things out) - but it seems very similar to Ukraine (where I'm working at the moment) - essential to get the invite letter from whoever wants you to work there and read the instructions very carefully!

good luck

Do it through a travel agent, much easier. I'm surprised you need one for a one month visit, can normally do one-off trips on a tourist visa.

Try http://www.uk.cibt.com/ We always use them for our Visas. Not cheap, but reliable and they do all the work.

We use a company called TLCS. They can do the 30 day Russia Business Visa and get it back to you within a week or so for £190.
It isn't a cheap way to do it, but in my experience these guys are seriously reliable and will sort all your problems.
I can get it sorted for you if you like, just drop me an email smile

Does that include the official business invite too? Cost wise isn't an option as work are paying.

Been really busy all day!
They do include the Invitation.
Basically you fill in all the details except who your being invited by, the company sort all that out then advise you of the exact details of the invite and what to put on the forms. You then send the forms and they get it all settled for you.
I'm just about the head out for the evening, but drop me an email to ben.hobson@statravel.co.uk and I can get it sorted tomorrow if you'd like me to.
