Anyone have this and/or could recommend a good company for it?

Been with a company called Flexicover for the last couple of years, though it's just doubled this year for some reason.

Just received this email from them (edited for brevity)

Why purchase Flexicover Annual Multi-trip?

* Choice of cover levels – Gold or Silver (alternative benefits and cover levels).
* Automatic cover for single trips of up to 50 days (35 days as standard if aged 66 or over). Further trip extensions may be available upon request.
* Covers a host of sports and recreational activities at no extra cost.
* Scheduled Airline Failure Insurance (SAFI) cover is now included on our policies. This new cover provides financial protection in the event of the insolvency of a scheduled airline.

Policy Quotation (See Important Notes)
Insured: MR **** ***** ********
Start Date: 30 July 2009
Area: Europe
Premium with discount:
(incl Insurance Premium Tax) £41.65 (Gold)
£33.32 (Silver)

Now this looks all well and good but last year it was only £19.90 for the year.

I'm usually away for about 4 - 6 two or three week periods on business in either France, Spain or Germany, so no real risk I'd assume.

Any help welcome as I remember the hours trawling through the web the last time.

Looks like a decent policy and very good value at that price smile
Many companies include Airline Failure Cover unless you're buying the flight direct from the airline.
If it covers you for the specifics to do with luggage/cancellation/delay that you need for your trips then I'd go for it.
One thing to check is the excess and whether each seperate part of the claim has a seperate excess. Many companies do charge £100 excess for baggage delay claims, another £100 for cancellation claims and so on. This certainly adds up.

That is a decent price, I'd normally say nearer £60 is more the norm if it's worldwide cover.

From someone that's had to use it in the past year, I'd say don't skimp. My mate had to use his in Argentina and although purchased through Endsleigh, it was AXA that were the underwriters and they did the job.
Local office was manned by chimps, but one angry session turned up someone to fork out four and a half grand on the company credit card within the hour, outside normal office hours.

Make sure you've got your EHIC and carry it with you. If you need emergency care and don't have it, then expect to get nailed for cash before leaving the hospital when you're still not feeling top of the world.

You'll be lucky to leave with change from £250 unless whatever it is is VERY minor.

Also make sure that whoever you're travelling with knows where your insurance policy is kept, and where to find your passport. If you're KO'd and they don't know, then it's a world of pain for them.

I charge foreigners in hospitals for a living, and deal with insurers on a daily basis, and it still wasn't all plain sailing for me!

We have two adults and six kids and we pay about £120 through Sainsbury's. We've had to make a fair few claims over the years and they've been excellent - you don't really know how good an insurance company is until you come to make a claim!

We are two/three adults and three/two kids (oldest just turned £16) and pay about £45 a year for annual cover, but Europe only. Direct Travel, underwritten by AIG.

It's only really worth having for the medical cover and cancellation cover. If you've half decent contents insurance your possessions will be covered by that.

Gentlemen,

Thank you very much for all your helpful comments.

Looks like I'll be staying with the original insurers.

Cheers
