Off to NY next month. Done the Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty, Waldorf Astoria, Brooklyn Bridge, 21 Club, MoMA, Nat Hist Museum, Walk in Central Park, Wall St etc - they're all the normal touristy things to do, of course.

So, from people that have been/lived there, what else would you recommend??? Chinatown, Soho, Little Italy...?

Also, what's best way from JFK to Manhattan? Last time used Virgin Limo booked on air miles, but self financed this time!!!!

Cheapest way from JFK to Manhattan is to use the air train.
Total cost about $9 IIRC, takes you from the terminal to an intersecting station on the subway system, straight shot from there into Manhattan.

I use it every time I travel to NYC.

I agree. Takes a while, but probably quicker than traffic a lot of the time anyway! There are two intersecting subway stations - go to Jamaica if you are heading to midtown or upper manhattan, or the other one (I forget what it is called) if you are going downtown.

go to the Intrepid Sea Air museum, something I wanted to do when I was there but ran out of time for, There are Tour buses that are great as you get to see more and find out more about where you are, such as local stories and snippets of history.

Spend some time at The Met. Mrs. AdeTuono wanted to go last time we went. I didn't fancy it, but really enjoyed it once we got there. You can easily spend a couple of days there. We made the mistake of taking too long over the Egyptian area, and had to rush the rest of it, but we did it on our last day, so couldn't catch up. Will visit again next time.

For me, though, walking around the Greenwich Village/Bleecker Street area, in the evening, is what NYC is all about. Some fantastic bars and clubs. This one...
