Hi,

my family and I are heading to Oz soon and we stop over in Dubai for 10 hours or so.

I have read some stories in the press about people being detained for seemingly innocent prescription drugs, probably scaremongering, but wondered if anyone had any advice on the whole situation.

The drugs in questions will be Diazapan (for a nervous flyer!) and Amatriptalyne (as a migraine inhibitor).

Both will have a doctors note/prescription.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

If you have the prescription with the medication there won't be any problem.

No doubt someone will be along to tell you of there mate from the pub who got gang-raped in a stinking cell for posession of an Anadin though.

Great, thanks but that states visitors can bring them in if prescriptions signed bu U.S. doctors and authenticated by the secretary of state!!

No small undertaking for an American, bloody impossible for a Scotsman.

It doesn't appear that either are a Narcotic (and totally banned) but certainly the Diazepam will require a prescription to be carried with you. If it were me, I would get some extra paperwork, ask the doctor if there is any other records he can print out to support your possession of them, and keep their phone number handy!
