Since the Baltic is now out due to it being, well, errr... baltic in February, the choice is now between Hamburg and Budapest.

I've never been to either, so would appreciate any thoughts on the pro's and cons of each.

depends what you are after.
if some of you are after a great choice of beer then hamburg wins.
if you are more interested in sight seeing, culture etc then budapest is great.
you will get less problems like this in hamburg and a good time can be had getting pissed around the lake as they often have live bands, wine drinking events and similar.
both are great venues but remember to keep your money safe.

Is Budapest likely to be warm in February?! I took my mum for her 60th last year and really enjoyed it as a cultural city, but know folk that have done it for lads holidays and come back with horror stories.

Krakow is worth considering, although likely to be similarly chilly.

It won't be warm as such, but will be bearable. Apparently:

Average high °C 4.7
Average low °C -1.3
