Where have you heard this information?

I'll be in Florida around that time aswell and would love to see one go up.

Kennedy will be rammed but it's so flat and clear out there you don't need to get especially close....

I saw/heard one land last year.

Atlantis only came back last week though - are you sure another one's going up?

I'll be there too. We bought some tickets online that grant us access to a viewing area and entry to the space center. If your planning to go to the space center anyway it's not a bad deal.

You dont have to go to the space center on the same day as the launch either!! smile

If it doesn't go on 13/14/15 then its unlikely to go before mid-July (unless they stand down the Atlas launch).

If they decide to wait to check Atlantis' wiring then it'll almost cetainly be July.

Worth going to see though - only another year of shuttle flights left!

Kennedy does indeed get rammed.

Don't hold up your hopes though, they regularly delay the launches, it was being launched when we were out there last, delayed 7 times before they postponed it.

They're cancelling the shuttle program and replacing it with something akin to the old Apollo missions.

Apparently going back to the Moon, then Mars.

I went to a launch at KSC in 1992 delayed twice, two lots of tickets and two days wasted, went back in 2001 and delayed one day, went back the next day, no tickets wasted this time. Unlikely I'll be going back there before they are cancelled.

Don't rule out the LRO launch on the 17th. It's not quite as impressive as a shuttle launch, but it's still bloody good. It will be less packed, although the viewing sites are a little more limited.

Look on the forum at www.nasaspaceflight.com.

KSC is almost due east of downtown Orlando. I'm fortunate in some respects and can watch the launches from my back garden.
The space coast gets jammed solid with people wanting to get as close as possible, so be prepared for some big traffic to and from Merrit Island on SR528. The Causeway over the intercoastal waterway is a good place to see the launch (once it's left the ground - as the Vehicle Assembly Building blocks the view of the pad(s) from the causeway. Alternatively, the Space Park on the other side of the waterway at Titusville is good, but extremely busy, so you need to get there early. The noise and ground-shaking are pretty spectacular, given that Titusville is several miles from the pad.
As others have said, be prepared for a bit of 'tooing and froing' - they sometimes scrub the launches, with minutes to go.

Got this from the main road. Some people were renting their gardens for parking! I dumped the car round the back of the houses.

Everyone should see a Shuttle Launch before they are retired.

Especially the night time launches, absolutely phenomenal for a combination of

A) hairdryer air blast
B) the noise
C) "Let There Be Light!" laugh

Check the NASA website for details, when I saw it you had to queue at the centre for free tickets a set period before launch.
