Tell me about Oktoberfest
Discussion
So me and the missus are planning a big trip around Europe for 2010. We are looking at taking in Germany so I can go to the 'Ring and we both want to hit Oktoberfest.
Has anyone been before?
Reccomendations for accomodation?
When to go?
Which beer tents to see?
How much money did you use there?
Any other tips, tricks and advice?

I give you advice garnered from spending to long in backpackers hostels.
Avoid any Australian backpacker who has an Australian flag anywhere on them. Avoid all Contiki groups that has an Australian on board.
If you find an Australian who claims to be a New Zealander then stick with them.
It's something I missed out on but going by what people I met on my travels said, I'm not upset.

tell you about Oktoberfest ... well, as someone who lived in Munich for a year and did 2 of them .....
You pop down to the quaint bavarian center of Munich, go into a big beer tent where a lovely buxom wench gives you a few beers ....

.
About a week to 10 days later you sober up and realise that there is only brief and hazy memories of the past days ... hangover is generally not too bad though as the beer is clean!

Room would be for 2 adults, en suite with brekkie if possible. Be good to get an idea on prices.
Actually I could rock up at Puggit's mates house and tell them I know him 'cos he replied in my thread on time
