I've been to Banff and Lake Louise a few times, but always in July/August - and the weather's always been very nice indeed. Next week I'm off to Calgary on business but I've decided to spend a couple of days in The Rockies (1st weekend in June) and was wondering what the weather is likely to be like? Anyone know what it's likely to be like going up, for example, Suplhur Mountain? Hot, cold, wet, snowy, etc...

We went in June, Steve, a few years back.

It was lovely. The higher paths/roads were still shut and there was some snow on paths around the hotel but the weather was excellent. Quite cold and crisp but clear. There were no problems driving about at all.

We took a lot of your advice when we went and enjoyed ourselves immensely.

See if you can stay at the Lake Moraine lodge this trip. It was ace.

Thanks Don, will do.

So a warm jacket and footwear will suffice then?

If it's anything like the year we went there - yes that would be fine.

Well, been in Calgary all week - very warm (mid twenties). I then drive to Banff and it's cold and snowing! frown

Had some frost last night but will get better in the coming week. Too bad that all our 3 TVRs are in the shops getting painted right now or we would take a hoon up to Banff/Lake Louise while you are here. PM me your dates here.

Oh hi - only just seen this. Currently at Calgary Airport about to fly home. Was in Calgary all week (business) and Banff yesterday and Lake Louise today. Today was nicer - quite a bit of sun (and rain and snow). All said and done, had a great time with an old mate over the weekend. We laughed until we cried - and then we laughed some more! All on the magnificent backdrop of The Rockies! I do love Canada - would live here if the wife wasn't so averse to the cold!

Well Don, it was a case of 'returning to snow' rather than 'still snowing'. Had a great time though. Took lots of great photos and had many a laugh (and beer) with an old mate who emigrated some time ago!

Steve: If you get a chance to return for work, just give us a PM. Didn't catch your original post soon enough as we were in B.C. for races and it took me a few days to catch up on the new posts. Hope you enjoyed yourself. Buddy down the street who is building a LS7 powered Ultima has a wife that don't like cold also. It is funny to drive by their house while she is shoveling snow in 30 or 40 below.
