I'm looking to go somewhere early July with the lady friend, somewhere in europe which is insteresting, even romantic and not insanely expensive, with good places to eat and relaxing things to do like boat trips etc.

I cant for the life of me come up with anything at the moment and seeing as most of you have been to many places, i thought this would be the place to ask for suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

In both places there are budget places to stay and expensive places to stay. Paris is probably easier to do cheaply than Venice - eurostar down at unsociable hours, budget hotel and cheaper restaurants. Of course with the GBP-EUR rates as they are, anywhere in Western Europe will feel more expensive this year.

I'd work out a budget and spend some time browsing Expedia or similar for ideas.

I might be sounding like a broken record but I'd put forward Croatia.
Decent weather that time of year, cheapish EasyJet flights, outside Euro Zone, great beaches/cities/boating opportunities!
Certainly worth a butchers as an alternative break smile

Split would be my personal choice or possibly somewhere further down like Dubrovnik and the coast down that way.
There have been a few threads in this forum about Croatia recently so it's worth having a search round smile
