Can anyone advise on which area is best to go to?

We will be staying a Gite and have found nice ones in both areas, we will go via the Tunnel (I hate ferries) and will have a 12 month old baby with us.

Driving in France is not an issue as we drive to the Alps every February.

The idea is to have a nice relaxing holiday with a bit of cycling / walking etc.

Which is best?

Cheers

Pas-de-Calais or Dordogne? Only one winner, and it's the one down South!

There's a reason the Dordogne is so popular!

That's what we were thinking - it is quite a bit further to drive though !!

True - I wouldn't want to do it with a 12 month old (and I have one!).

One of the reasons we bought a house in the Loire was because of our young kids. It's 3 hours south of Le Havre or 5 hours-ish from Calais, so much more achievable.

In my profile wink

Go back to the Alps! We are driving to Morzine in July with our baby. Fantastic cycling (eg Le Tour) and walking down there.

Arras is not a typical holiday destination...

Thanks for the help - Dordogne is booked for June 20th to the 27th at a very nice Gite.

Look forward to the drive down - may try and get a run down the Mulsanne Straight on the way down driving
