Classic car hire in America...

Planning a trip to America, we're flying in to Atlanta and we would love to do some driving while we are out there... pretty standard stuff. BUT we would love to drive a classic/old american car, something a little more interesting than all the obvious hire companies can offer. I've even considered buying an old heap (top gear stylie) but i doubt it is even feasible what with insurance and stuff.

Basically, has anyone found a way of driving a cool car around America?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
