got this through on email:

http://www.airasia.com/site/gb/en/home.jsp

Basically it is a special deal if you book now and fly next year and flights are starting at £76 one way to KL.

I suggested to the OH that we might want to view this for next easter and she told me its like the ryan air of asia.... 90 degree seats, no entertainment, uncomfortable as sin and just not a nice place to be for 12 hours flying. Is she correct or just being a bit OTT and they are actually ok?

I've never used them for long-haul as that is a recent introduction for them.

Yes, they're a budget airline but they're pretty good IMO.

Keep an eye on Skytrax for reviews. There's only one (favourable) review from the UK.

Interested in this as well. Paid £600 to go to KL with Emirates last year and saw this AirAsia deal which seemed a bit "too good to be true". Comfort/legroom isn't something I want to skimp on for long haul flight being 6'3.

I see on the advert that they are quoting "from" 147GBP each way, then you have to factor in the airport tax, which when i flew to the UK last month with Thai air was US $300 (200GBP) so instantly you are up to around 500GBP. That is taking into account that you actually get a flight for 147 each way, very unlikely.

On the other hand i have just paid for 2 return flights for my sons to see the F1 GP in Singapore: 455GBP each, inc all taxes, flying with Singapore Air on their brand new A380.

I know who i would rather be flying with and its certainly not Air Asia, i hear you have to pay a pound to take a p!ss.

I thought taxes would be added (they are for their 'local' flights and tend to double the price) but it does say that it includes taxes.

Yes, it does actually say that it includes all taxes.......however, it still says "from 149GBP" i would have a hunch that there is only one seat at that price and once that one has gone its a free for all on the price, i still think i have a better deal, especially with the service you get from Singer's Airlines

I quite agree. When looking at flights to Europe, airlines like BA always include taxes and there is often little difference with the budget airlines, once you've added the myriad of booking, luggage, taxes and other charges.

Return? Don't know about KL but BKK would go as low as £350 for indirect or £450- direct (low season). £276 inc taxes, return would be very cheap.
