Anyone got any ideas over which airline to go with in October to Malta.

Heard some bad stories about Air Malta and 7 hours delays each way. Will be flying from either Gatwick or Luton.

Only there for 4 days and minimal sight seeing time (business trip) but if I get half a day any recommendations of what not to miss?

I've only ever had one problem with Air Malta and that was they overbooked the flight. Flew out the next day (fortunately Malta bound) and they refunded the ticket. Other options are Easyjet and Ryanair (make of them what you will but Easyjet our of Manchester have been pretty good in the 20 or so times myself or the family have used them).

For PH stuff to do

Surprisingly rather good.

I am also going to try and go to this when I am over in July.

Air Malta is OK, if a little expensive at times.....

Anything you need to know about Malta just ask, I'll try my best to help, although you can Google most things these days......Make sure you have a good look around Valletta, especially the Grand Harbour, there is an excellent recently opened car museum in Tourist street, Qawra, has has already been mentioned, The drag racing at Hal Far is good, but check meet times, (usually Saturday afternoons).....Also Fort Rinella is well worth a visit near Kalkara......

Know any agents in UK or Malta you'd recommend as a source for quality self catering holiday apartment in Malta?

Where are you thinking of staying and for how long?

St Julians for a week, tho never been before so will take better idea advice. Studio or 1 bed ideally. Top quality essential. We walk around a lot, we sightsee a bit, we eat outrageously and we sleep as much as possible too. That's it, really. Mind numbing innit?

To be honest, if you are only going for a week, I would not bother spending a fortune, St Julians/Paceville is the "lively" area of Malta, (around a fifteen minute bus ride from Valletta) very noisy at night, especially at weekends with all the nightlife, make sure you have a look round the new(ish) Marina at Portomaso, and a lovely steak can be had at the San Giuliano restaurant overlooking Spinola Bay.....

Make sure you take the opportunity to travel on some old Maltese buses, but watch the drivers give you the correct change...smile

Remember to take your driving Licence as to hire a car for a few days will only cost around £80, and the Island is only twenty odd miles from end to end......

Sorry, no particular recommendations, as I had a villa in Mellieha Bay in the north of the island, so had no need to use any letting agents, I am only familiar with real estate agents, Frank Salt and Dhalia being two of the main ones....maybe they will be able to help?.........
