Hello

I am starting to think about booking a holiday for later this year (September). Last year we (me and the mrs) went to Cyprus and loved it. We'd like to go somewhere similar this year, and are thinking about Greek Islands such as Kos or Corfu. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations - on destinations and/or hotels.

Here are the requirements:
  • A one week break, budget up to around £500-700 each.
  • Somewhere with temperatures around 28-30 in September.
  • Somewhere with things to do more than just relaxing. Lounging around the beach is fun, but what we loved about Cyprus was the fact that we not only had an amazing resort with its own beach, but we hired a car for a few days and saw the whole island.
  • Ideally a 4-5* resort, all inclusive within that budget.
  • Somewhere that won't be overly packed in Sept.
  • Somewhere suited to young couples (well, young-ish - we're 29 and 31!); as opposed to lads holidays or somewhere there will be loads of screaming kids.
  • Preferably not too long of a flight.
Any ideas?

Thanks

Corfu is stunning and I've been twice now. Plenty of hotels / apartments in quieter areas that would suit a less cluby atmosphere.

Car or scooter hire is also a good idea, and Corfu town is excellent for exploring and getting right up to the old parts and off the beaten tracks.

I've always fancied going back but doing villa hire, and I'll maybe consider this for later in the year around September time.

Crete has pretty much everything you could ask from a Greek island. Hire a jeep/bike and go inland to sample the real island, plenty of history, friendly locals and spectacular mountains.

Perhaps have a look into Kephalonia. Seems to tick all the boxes for what you want. Went there a few years back. Small enough to explore in a few days with a car, but enough to do at the same time. Look at resorts like Fiscardo.

Have no location suggestions, but heard that it can be wet late in the season. Went to Zante a few years ago and was told they have the same rainfall as the uk, just not through the summer!
