I'm looking to go on a 5 day trip in August to Ibiza and am after some hotel/area recommendations for something special/relaxing. We don't want the San An club scene, instead want to see the proper side of Ibiza.

Worth spending a day or two in Formentera, the wee island off the coast you see in all the sunset photos.

Like that.

Es Vedra has all sorts of hippy stories to it too.

yes

Just happened upon this place when we hired a car a couple of years ago, but thought it was paradise!

It all depends on just how quiet a time you want - these are my personal faves:

Ibiza Town: To me this is the 'real' Ibiza - lively but very cosmopolitan - not full of your San An chav's, but pretty expensive too! If you do want to take in any clubs at all, I'd highly recommend a night at Pacha - it's one of very few that still 'feel' Spanish!

Figueretas: A nice resort, sort of a middle ground - cheaper and quieter than the the town and only 20-30mins walk away (down the beach and up through the castle - a must do!), some lovely restaurants - would probably get my vote overall!

Es Figueral: Lovely beach!

Cala D'Hort: Not far from San An... Great beach beneath the cliffs - stunning views over them of Es Vedra!

Cala Bassa: Another beach near San An!

In defence of San An, they seem to be doing a good job of tidying it up - I still wouldn't stay there myself, but everyone needs to see a sunset from Coastline Cafe or similar at least once! Oh, and the food in 'Il Vaticano' is awesome! smile

I recommend having a look on the 'Ibiza Spotlight' site - there's loads of resort info there, plus we've often booked our hotels via the site and been quid's in against package prices after booking Easyjet flights!

Hi, going to Portinatx a week Saturday as wanted somewhere nice and relaxing, and hiring a car for three days so hopefully be able to report back my finds soon. Chose here as so many people have recommended the place to me.
