Enormous choice and depends on where you're staying

Central / South / Ambleside area
Driving challenge - do Wrynose and HardKnott Passes or a CW tour of all the passes - about 100mls or so
Walking challenge - depends on your parties fitness but maybe Coniston Old Man or Stickle Ghyll are both popular. The latter starts and more importantly ends at a rather nice pub called the Old Dungeon Ghyll.

What do you like doing?

Echo above

Hawkshead is a pretty little village, not much there apart from about 4 pubs and some nice nik nak/foodie shops.

Check out the many Microbreweries there, one at the end of the road at Wast Water- prettiest view of all lakes supposedly, and another in Coniston- Black Bull or something like that?

Great Beer smile

We all love to walk but with a baby, that will be limited.

We all like to eat out.

FiL and I both like a drop or two.

There is a big pretty waterfall too somewhere, fairly even walking there for a baby/buggy, I will find out the name in a bit.

There's a riverside path that runs from outside of Ambleside to Elterwater (pub) or the path that runs around Tarn Hows both good gravel paths that a buggy would negotiate easy. Elterwater and Coniston have nice Pubs

Depending on the age of your youngster there are loads of things you can do which are not just sightseeing or serious walking.

Some of the stuff we have done with my little lad in the last couple of years include:

Walk around Tarn Hows, owned by the National Trust, there is a push chair friendly level path all the way around.

Visit Grizedale forest, there are waymarked paths with sculptures in the woods.

Go on a boat ( Coniston steam Gondola, Ambleside / Bowness / Lakeside cruisers on Lake Windermere, Ullswater steamer).

Go to the zoo - South Lakes wildlife park at Dalton.

Holker Hall is nice and has a car museum.

Go on the Lakeside to Haverthwaite steam railway, there is also a narrow gauge railway - Ravenglass to Eskdale.

The national park visitor centre at Brockhole near Ambleside is nice on a sunny day.

Trotters animal park near Keswick.

These a just a few of the things we have done recently.

I hope you have pleasant weather whatever you do.

Agree with Miss D about Hawkshead. Spent a lads weekend out of the Red Lion or something B&B. The pubs were great, and the beer, (Coniston Bluebird is, in my opinion, one of the best session ales going), was superb. It's from the Coniston Brewing Company, and they are literally behind the Black Bull pub.

Did a week-end in the Lakes at the end of March with the Peugeot Sports Official Owners club. The Hardknott, Wrynose pass is a must do. Plenty to do for a week-end in fact you wont fit everything in. As mentioned some excellent real ales.
