Local area is very rural France. A lovely (PH-known) small town nearby with a few cracking restaurants (La Chartre sur le Loir)
The house has no phone, no internet and is hard to get a mobile signal (and staying that way). There is a cafe nearby (10km!) with free wifi.
The house is in the Loir valley - if you speak French this may help: http://www.loir-valley.com/bienvenue/
The Loire is nearby, so lots to see do. Chateaux and wine tasting top of the list.
Surrounding roads are stunning.

Sounds like a place to just lock yourself away from the world for a week??
Can you fish on that lake or is there good fishing nearby?
Roughly how long to drive there? Or best to fly?

You can either fish in the lake or the river which runs past. Licences are a handful of euros (bought in the local tabac). Carp is stocked in the lake.
3 hours from Le Havre, 2.5 from Caen, 5 hours-ish from Calais. We tend to take overnight ferries Portsmouth to Le Havre or Caen.
You can fly Stansted-Tours with RyanScare or it's around 3 hours from CDG (Orly easier). You can't take wine back then!
Not mine but were off to this one in August http://www.ownersdirect.co.uk/portugal/P5501.htm stayed in one round the corner in 2007 & the location is fantastic.
