Mr and Mrs Bouffy have just over 2 weeks in May to go on a beach holiday. Our flights will be free (airmiles, dahling) and we'd like to do 2 weeks accoomodation for around £2000ish, although I could be persuaded to part with some of my hard earned for the right place.

We were thinking Bali / Thailand etc. Any better ideas?

The only stipulation is that we both come back with a filthy tan, and the place we stay in is relatively smart. I don't mind honeymooners, but I do mind youths in Union Jack shorts. I don't mind all inclusive, but I do mind chips with every meal.

Ko Tao, Ko Phi Phi or Krabi in Thailand perhaps.
Bali is a good call.
Maybe Phu Quoc Island south of Vietnam as an off the wall suggestion. Fly to Saigon, local budget carrier (£20 I think I paid) to the island.
Plenty of nice accommodation in all those places too - if you want me to send some suggestions over, drop me an email smile

Head west bouffy, and to the Caribbean - specifically Barbados on the west coast.

Here's a thread from last year.

Any Shangri-La. Especially the one in Muscat, Oman. Bit closer to fly to as well.

For those of you who might be interested, we've decided to visit Hong Kong for a night (will see friends there), then onto Bali for 12 nights (few days in the rice fields, the rest on the beach - accommodation tbc), then 2 nights in HK again (more friends), then back to Blighty.

Rice, curries, and stir fries for 2 weeks? Ah cannee wait, like.

Bali this May? Same here! Then on to Kuala Lumpur followed by a week in Borneo.

With any luck, the drunken yobs won't be staying anywhere near the quite staggeringly expensiveeek places where we'll be. Lady Bouffy doesn't do "cheap" or "value" (unfortunately).

Ditto above, full of drunken Aussies and Kiwis on their winter hols! If you wanted exclusive then you should have booked Sentosa, island off Singapore.

Not sure on Bali, but I'd steer clear of Sentosa. It's not exactly a 'proper' beach destination if you know what I mean wink

Hi Ben,
Didn't want to mention that the beach sand was imported but then most dedicated beach bums in Singapore catch the ferry across to Desaru on the Malay coast, though the beaches would never get a blue flag award but have had some good surfing there when the storms roll in from the South China Sea.

Have booked ourselves into a few places recommended by my brother & sister-in-law, who live in Singapore. They spend a lot of time in Bali and are pretty fussy about this sort of thing, so I'm fairly sure we won't be mingling with the Antipoeddeeeaanns too much.

We go in 5 days. God I'm looking forward to it.
