night safari, zoo, clarke quay, bird park. There was another thread with loads of suggestions in the P&P (old format) I think.
If you are flying SIA, you might be able to do the stopover deal with discounts to entry to attractions and cheaper hotels too.

Its more expensive than London by far but the cleanest city in the world.
A beer is the equivalent to GBP 6.00 per pint.
If you want cheap shopping then don't go down Orchard Road, head out to the East Coast Road or pop across to Johor Bahru in Malaysia, GBP 1.00 on the train, return.
All the Sings and worker Malays flood across each week-end to do their shopping at Tesco, Carrefour and Giant, just for food shopping, so it must be cheap!

I wouldn't say that was completely true! Eating at a hawker can be far cheaper than anywhere in the UK. I don't think that I have paid £6 for a pint either anywhere.A beer is the equivalent to GBP 6.00 per pint.

You are right about Johor Bahru though, it isn't exactly safe though, and customs can be particuarly difficult.
I've never had any issues with Johor Bahru customs to be honest though I did see various tourists having some issues for seemingly minor issues. I must have been through 5 or 6 times last year without a problem though.
You might pay £6 for a beer in Raffles Hotel or one of the posh garden bars on Dempsey Hill. I ended up doing the latter when a friend arranged to meet me there and turned up late - that wasn't a cheap evening

go to the top of the swissotel to the bar there (bar asia i think its called) for a fantastic view of the city. hotels in the big shopping centre next to Raffles hotel.
I'd second that... I stayed there once on the 58th floor and it was one of the most stunning views. Unreal that the rooms have balconies, if you stay there, steer clear of the balconies if you have been on the beer!Edited by chrisj_abz on Friday 10th April 20:09

Price of beers; was thinking of Brewerks at Clarke Quay where real ale menu is priced from 6-12 SD upward depending on time of day, also Scruphy Murphies chain & Harry's Bars are 10SD + for lagers. Guinness & Kilkenny are currently 20RM at my local in JB: www.mulligans-jb.com
