Hi all,

As we are not going on our main honeymoon until February 2010, we wanted to get some sun and relaxation after the big day in August.

Want to go somewhere within Easyjet flight distance, relatively classy/luxurious, a nice beach...and £600 max for the two of us!

Was thinking Nice or Barcelona - any other suggestions/info/good cheap hotels very welcome.

How long are you hoping to be away for on £600?
Even with your Sleazyjet tickets, taxes etc, that won't leave a huge amount for hotels and fun?

Nice is a good choice. Lovely restaurants on the beach, funky old quarter, and Monaco is 20 minutes on the train for a day out and lunch at Cafe de Paris.

Job done.

5 days?

Flights to Nice are currently about £100 each return. Budget was for travel and accomodation i.e. not including spending money.

Other option is flight to a Greek island.

Croatia, Dalmatian Coast. Try Cres.

Cheap flight to Trieste.

We booked a week in Turkey for 2 in a 3* Hotel B&B for under £500 in the sale. This is at the end of June so I presume it would come under peak season like August?
If you want VFM I would seriously look into Turkey.

I would tend to look at getting something packaged up by a UK operator.
As we all know, the Euro and the Dollar have gained so much strength against the pound.
Whereas in the past, you would normally get a better price by booking your hotel and flight independantly, the way things are, a package may well be cheaper this year. Don't forget that the tour operators took out their contracts with their providers, early last year, when the £ was stronger.
If you book anything in Euros, it's going to costing a whole lot more than before. Also, even the budget flights are being affected ats the fuel contracts are negotiated in US$

As has been said previously, some of the non Euro European destinations will be your best bet.
Hope you have a great time.

You'll struggle getting 5 days relatively luxury accommodation + flights to the south of france for £600 all in.

You could try Barca, rather late for getting the really cheap flights but airlines do release more seats in sales later in the year.

Apartments are a cheapish choice of accommodation and you can be right i the middle of things.

I did say 'relatively'....

Ok, leftfield choice here - how about a nice Spa in the UK? Never been so no idea how much these are likely to be?

Tell you what mate, you should take a look at places in the UK... Chains like HAndpicked hotels are fantastic and are struggling a bit so there are some greats deals to have... Did a cheeky weekend away at one of their places - Their best suit, plus round of golf for me and spa for the missus, with Dinner and botte of poo for £230 - bargain !

It is nice, but £600 for 2 in any form of luxury would have been pretty much impossible when the £ was strong, let alone now. Something as stty and characterless as the Ibis would set you back €100 a night.

Ok, dropping the luxury as there seem to be excellent reviews on Tripadvisor for cheap and cheerful places to stay for about £75 a night in Nice.

A decent place to stay as a base for exploring the Cote de Zure is all we need (seriously, I am spending top dollar in Feb!!).

Cheers for the suggestions.

If August look at Lake Bled.... quite cheap and do the excursions on your own back rather than with a travel operator and it gets cheaper....

Thanks for all previous comments but ended up booking 6 nights at a posh hotel in St Ives:

Hear's hoping the British weather holds up!
