Not looking for anywhere inparticular, just browsing what sites currently have in their "deals" and "offers"

What other websites do you guys use?

Expedia
Opodo
TravelBag

What else? I seem to be having a memory spasm.

Cheers

www.travelrepublic.co.uk has always been very reliable and good on prices in the past for me. But the rest of the world is catching up. I recently had 8 days with the family in Tenerife, booked flights direct with Monarch and booked accomodation with ASDA travel (via the ASDA website). Amazingly ASDA were £50 less than anywhere else for the same accomodation.

I now check and compare travelrepublic, ASDA and Tesco. I wouldnt bother with expedia, travel supermarket or any of the other big names in 'discount' travel as they can never get close in price to the ones I use.

For the recent trip to tenerife, I ended up paying £800 inc all taxes etc for return flights for 4 people, extra legroom for me on the flights (Im a bit tall), 2 bedroom 3* apartment in a good location in Los Cristianos for 8 days. Had I been prepared to slum it a bit and go 2* 1 bed apartment and the cheap seats on the flights I reckon I could have done the whole thing for £500 maybe even less.

Same apartment going with First choice for 7 days instead of 8 was around £1400 before extras. WIth expedia etc it came to about £1000, again for 7 days.

Car hire I wouldnt bother booking in advance, got a stunning deal in the resort , beat the best online advance price by £50.

Long haul.

Don't know where / when etc - just looking for inspiration / a bargain.

Kayak
expedia
traveljungle

also depends which airline you choose, you can get cheaper flights from local agents. There are too many variables until you be a bit more specific.

I always book my Thailand and Australia flights using that.

I use travelsupermarket.com for comparing prices. I then look at the user reviews on tripadvisor.com (not tripadvisor.co.uk).

TravelBag are now rather expensive after having been bought-out by eBookers a couple of years ago.

Tripadvisor very useful - forum is also good for specific advice! And...I've just discovered that if you click on the 'find prices' link in TripAdvisor when looking at a specific hotel, half the websites that pop-up give you cheaper prices than if you go straight to their website!!!

What else?
- AsiaHotels are pretty cheap for everywhere east of the Med.
- Expedia tends to have some good prices

...oh, and where possible check flight prices on the airline's own website first, if you're booking flights and accom separately (which is usually cheapest). Sometimes there's only £10-20 in it, and the airline's T&Cs are much more flexible...
