Yes! went in 2006, stayed near Argostoli, hotel meditaranee. Hotel was meh but kefalonia itself was great. Nice and quiet, no drunken yob bks.

Hire car absolutely essential ( Yes, a Suzuki Jimny CAN do a rolling burnout hehe ), easy to navigate round the island, make sure you visit the underground caves, beautiful.

Also we found the best beach is at Xi. Only sandy one we went to and has jet ski's etc.

Went a few years ago near Argostoli as well. Take care on the mountain roads if there's any rain. They get very greasy. Fun though. As are the earth tremors you might feel every now and again.

We stayed in that resort a few years back. One of the nicer places on the island - lots of restaurants along the quay. It's a bit of a trek from the airport, but it's worth it. Very quiet. Hunt out the boat hire company and nip off for the day along the coast and grab your own private beach.

Also there are two nice places worth exploring. Fiskardo at the north of the island is the posh part, and there's Assos on the west coast. The road to Assos is well worth doing - it's very steep and very winding. We did it two-up on a 50cc scooter! Going down was good but going up was interesting.

Lovely place ... went there about 5 years ago ... can't remember much but the north end of the island is posh and the south end less so - "posh" meaning yacht-y types, not-posh meaning more 'normal'.

Loved the place. One of my best holidays ever. Highly recommended. Underground caves are a must, as is a small hire car.

Me and the missus are looking to go there in july/august funnily enough. Heard very good things about it and its supposed to be off the beaten track a bit - away from the english bars and most things chavvy etc...

I'm looking at between £350-400 each to go there.. who did you book with ? and how much if you dont mind me asking ? Latedeals.co.uk looks better than most as far as options/pricing goes smile

Cheers

Steve
