The following e-mail was sent to the TVRCC North America, by the Chairman of the TVRCC, John Hayter

On behalf of the Committee and members of the TVRCC in the UK, I want you to know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all in the US on this most terrible day. So many honest, decent and innocent lives will be forever blighted by these dreadful events. I hope that knowing that we share your grief offers a small measure of condolence. Written with a very heavy heart. John Hayter Chairman, TVRCC
Of course, as the UK area rep of the TVRCCNA, I echo the sentiments of John's letter, especially as I know a couple of people who worked in the north building of the WTC.
I've written to Marshall Moore, TVRCCNA president and hope that the affected areas of NYC and DC get up and running very quickly.

Can never forget.
My employer had 5 floors at TWC and the second plane made a direct hit. 295 colleagues died. We have a memorial alongside our global HQ on Avenue of the Americas, NYC.
We had a board meeting scheduled for the WTC that day but at the last minute it was switched to our mid town HQ. A very lucky escape.
Wife and I were holidaying at Aruba at the time. Loads of tourists from USA. Aruba is on the same time zone as NYC and it happened at around breakfast time. I recall being with a couple on honeymoon from NYC and they were not aware of what had happened, then the four of us watched the event all morning on a TV in an open air gym at the hotel. A very weird, moving, distressing experience, almost unbelievable.
Aruba was shut down like most of the rest of the world with all flights in/out cancelled for several days and their telephone system was changed to reserved timed calls only due to high demand. Mobiles were not smart at the time and they were pretty useless for a few days.
Unforgettable for me for all the wrong reasons.

At the time of 9-11 my Father was friends with Eliza Manningham Buller head of MI5 at the time. She was on a plane to NY with an hour of the second tower coming down and I remember being told that the were the only plane allowed into Washington airspace whatsoever for 48 hours. Most flights were sent into Canadian Airspace or grounded.
