Hi folks,

Coming fast! We are off to Seattle in September for a couple of weeks. We have three nights booked in Pioneer Square and then nearly a week around Mount Rainier National Park and Bainbridge Island.

Any suggestions of things to see and do? We have thought about the Boeing museum on our way out of Seattle towards Rainier but any general recommendations were most appreciated.

Also, it s my partner s birthday whilst we re in Seattle staying at Pioneer Square. I ve booked Lola Seattle for the evening meal- that was where he wanted to go, but any suggestion for a really special treat on that day or day out?

From Bainbridge, head up to Poulsbo, interesting small town. My knowledge of Bainbridge is probably too old but the main street drag had a couple of nice restaurants and a half ok pub.

Obv in Seattle go to Pikes Place but I found it largely somewhat overrated. Few decent places to eat on the waterside.

My knowledge is limited unfortunately as I was there for work.

Space Needle is actually very good, and worth the money. Some great walking tours available. Boat trips around Pugit Sound. A drink in No1 Starbucks if that's your thing. Amazon Spheres are free but you need a bit of luck for an open day to coincide with your trip.

But they also have the world's worse tourist attraction, the gum wall, which ironically you have to see because it's just so disgusting.

So it's been a few years but

Boeing Tour (absolutely brilliant if you have even the slightest interest in planes, buildings or engineering)
Coit tower (if you can, do the special Saturday morning extended tour, you see a lot more and it is worth it)
Space Needle
Underground Tour (we've done a few of these throughout the USA, my notes from the time say this one's the best)

Apart from the open top bus tour, that's all we did in the city (one day as I recall) before heading out on the rest of our roadtrip.

Didn't realise Seattle has one of those too!
We went to the one in San Louis Obispo (CA) on a different road trip - grim indeed!

Over two days, we did:
Space needle
Monorail
Pike’s place Market
Underground tour
Waterfront stroll and dinner
Boeing factory tour
Museum of flight

Really enjoyed it all. Great place. We then got the train to Vancouver.

Hi all,

Great suggestions thanks. Hope the weather is with us, a good wander is what I like to do.
My partner is an unconfessed avgeek but has been resistant to the idea of visiting Boeing.

But, we are going.. on the way to Rainier!

Will check out Poulsbo. We have a couple of days on Bainbridge.

Flying Heritage and Combat Armour Museum was excellent. Everything has been restored with no expense spared, everything looked new it was
If you are interested in that kind of stuff it was impressive. Pretty much everything is in running order too - perhaps not the V1 or the Scud!
The chap I spoke to said they wanted to get the ME262 flying this year - !!!!!

Cool cool - if you do get to Poulsbo, depending on your interest and time of visit, I'd recommend Sluys Bakery for some good dose of unhealthy US eating lick , Brass Kraken for lunch over the water burger , Sogno di Vino for dinner yum and Valholl for drink (and axe throwing... rotate )

Don't go to the pizza place yuck

There's a tiny museum - which is interesting but done in 10 mins

Careful of taxi's on BI - when I went there they were all shared and the drivers were constantly smokin2yikes - Uber didn't exist there, but this was about a decade ago
