Easter break in Brittany

A 5 day special again on Brittany ferries.
Easter Sunday ferry out was horrendous, never been on a ferry like it before, we had our usual fry up on the way out but all of my wife's ended up in bags, I felt really sorry for a little kiddy next to us, he obviously didn't know what was going on and spew up everywhere. It was like something out of a film. My son and me...fine! I quite liked the challenge of it all.
Into Cherbourg and through customs in no time and then off to the destination of Erquy an hour or so away from Saint Malo.
Drive was about 3 hours, no trouble at all, could see Mont St Michel on the way (been before).
Stayed in a smallish house, it was quite interesting, a metal shed type affair, lovely and new inside, had plenty of deck outside to sit on, and best of all a jaccuzzi and Pellet heater. Bliss.
We had a few food options in the lovely little town Easter Sunday but decided on a pizza on the sea front in the town.
We always do a trip out so Easter Monday was a trip to the zoo past St Brieuc, this wasn't massive plus with two hours being enough to see it all we had a stop 15 mins away in Ernic, packed solid down there and some lovely beach views.
Day 2 highlights were we had a (very hilly) walk around where we stayed with a stop for a baguette, this went from our house to Plage St Michel (tide was in then unfortunately), I was surprised how hilly Brittany really was! Before dinner went across to Cap Erquy, absolutely stunning views and miles of walks available.
Day 3 A trip into Saint Malo with a trip to the Aquarium to keep our boy happy, interesting ride in there with the submarine if you ever go, it could be described as a metal teapot with drop off that went around a track, son loved it. Saint Malo was a great city, probably should had spent a bit more time there and had a decent Lunch but will definitely go back.
I had a round of golf in the afternoon at Pleneuf Val Andre, my god one of the hilliest courses I think I've played (carrying). But still great value to play a Challenge Pro Tour venue.
Day 4
Drive and walk from the west of Pleneuf val Andre that seemed to be a nice enough place and had a French long weekend feel to it with a casino and hotels on the front, it was then back to the House for some downtime.
Day 5
Last day, We thought we'd go through Saint Malo bridge in the morning on route to kill an hour or so....
Wife decided she liked saint Malo so much she'd leave her phone there ON THE SIDE OF THE MOTORWAY after it had been left on my car roof, what an absolute nightmare....I realise this banging then see it drift off into the distance.
You need to goto the next junction then back over the bridge and then back around, a lot of f'ing and blinding going on.....
I get out with high viz on thinking it's findable it's clearly not and either had been kicked about by the cars/lorries or hidden in deep somewhere. When walking up the motor way I hear sirens FFS, didn't strike me that it was for us...I get back after walking about a mile up and see our car surrounded by fire service....I was absolutely bricking it thinking we'll be hung drawn and quartered, "We were called based on the iPhone getting damaged and reporting an incident"...feeling sorry for us they seemed to indicate they could stay while we looked but I insisted they bugger off as I had travel insurance etc and people potentially needed them more than us...anyway phone not found.
A stop in the Normandy victory museum to kill an hour or so with our son, then a stock up of some wine and then it was back onto the ferry.
Only dissapointment was britanny haven't got the Barfluer on at the moment its the Commodore and it was absolutely packed solid with limited seating and quiet areas.
I liked Brittany, could defo move there maybe one day but would always be dubious of it being wet and cold like here, although we did have more sunshine than at home for three days.

Wow - quite remarkable re: iPhone left on the roof. Unlucky for your wife, but if nothing else, it proves the auto 'SOS' mode works an absolute charm, even abroad.
Out of sheer curiosity, what sort of time frames were you looking at from the phone sliding off the roof to fire brigade arriving at that exact location?

Is quite interesting, so im guessing this happens when in the sticks etc?

Fairly quick then, considering the ‘crash’ signal probably had to be manually by someone too.Is quite interesting, so im guessing this happens when in the sticks etc?
When out of signal, I have often wondered how the phone can still offer “SOS Only”…? Is there an additional network we don’t know about?
