Eki net Japan shinkansen tickets

Anyone managed to book tickets using eki net?
Been trying for several hours with no joy. Tried 2 phone's and a tablet. Various browsers. I get as far as putting the email address in and when I press send it just hangs.
Its JR east so its different to the usual.JR west site as I am trying to go to Hakodate.
To make matters worse I am in china so via VPN.
If no has anyone got any recommendations for a good site that allows oversize luggage seat selection (back row) as the usual sites like trip dont let you pick a seat.

If it helps anyone in the future this only worked via a Windows pc in the UK.
Before this I tried android, apple, multiple browsers on each, in private modes, deleted cookies, used all caps etc all these suggestions found online did not work.
Once the booking link had been generated in the UK i was then able to use that link here in China and complete the next steps and make payment.
The only snafu I had after that was the password I was trying to set up was too complex. It has to be all lower case and only numbers. Max 11 char. No caps or special characters.
