First world problem. Obviously this is nothing compared to those involved or affected in the war.

Mrs Toasty has always wanted to go to Everest base camp and finally got the funds together to go in early April.

The flights and trek were booked separately and she has travel insurance.

Her flight with Qatar is in jeopardy due to the Iran War but other routes haven’t yet been offered. At least we know that a refund is possible.

The trek part, however, will set off from Kathmandu whether she gets there or not, and travel insurance doesn’t cover effects of war.

Any advice?

Booking two tickets seems cheaper than one.

IndiGo

LON -> DEL return - from £600
DEL -> KTM return - from £200

BA fly direct to Delhi - about twice the IndiGo price.

Thanks, we hadn’t thought of going via Delhi.

I was due to fly today via Qatar (on Qatar airways but booked through BA).
I called last week and they rerouted me through KUL on Malaysia Air at no cost.

I have kept my return flight via Doha but I am confident they will reroute at my request if it still looks ropey.

As an aside, last time I flew to Nepal the airline I flew with went out of business while I was in the air (Jet, an Indian carrier). We landed in Delhi and there was a lot of uncertainty until we could fly on to Kathmandu.

Thanks, that's encouraging.
