Turkey in August
Discussion
Looking at 10 days AI in late August this year.
Budget max around 4.5k but prefer under £4k as i think paying over that is a tad absurd.
All the kids want is a decent evening entertainment programme and some water slides/pools.
Seen a few in Antalya but not keen on it being very busy/over crowded. Other areas like Bodrum, Torda, Didum and Kemer.
Two kids 7 and 9, Grandparents late 60/70....we usually only leave the resort a day or 2.
Any recommendations on areas and perhaps a good area with 1 or 2 sight seeing?
Hotels - is 5 star really 5 star or is 4 star suffice? I have a feeling that Turkey is decent value compared to alternatives like Greek Islands/Canaries...
Last 3 years weve been to:
2025 - Paphos
2024 - Ibiza
2023 - Gran Canaria
Only left the resort on average 1/2 days if that.

We did Delphin Be Grand a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. The water park is brilliant.
Worth a look.
Being honest a lot of the Turkey hotels are all much and such the same, we were looking to go this year and once you've looked at a few its hard to remember which is which.
Ended up booking Greece

We've been to Turkey many times, just as a couple and with our children/grandchildren, all AI too.
To be honest you wont go wrong anywhere that is a 5 star, they are all very good, with similar set ups/food etc.
We've never had a bad holiday there and we've tried difficult countries too but the service and value for money in Turkey makes it difficult to beat. For first time I'd either go for Side or Izmir.

I agree that was where i was getting too, all 4/5 star, all look great.....plus it is hard to remember like you say
Ive seen Ramada Resort by Wyndham Arbuk not really Bodrum but is this a bit too isolated? Also seen Blue Dreams Resort Torba. Also saw Vikingen Infinity Resort & Spa
Where did you end up in Greece then?
Been to Turkey quite a few times, probably a bit more budget than you planned so I won't recommend specifics, but we never had a bad experience....all AI. It will be hot at that time of year....high 30's in August isn't unusual....one year it was even in the low 40's in August for us for a few days. August is high season....so anywhere will be busy. We found the later we went, the more chance of it being a bit quieter (only getting back just before schools re-start) so look at the options.
Flying into Antalya you can look at Lara Beach (close to the airport), then Belek (lots of choice) and a bit further afield Side.

Thanks all...some food for thought.
Some front runners so far
Kaya Belek Hotel
Sealight Resort Hotel
Duja Didim (not Sure)
Vikengen Infinity Resort (although kids area seems across the road and flights suspect)
Limak Limra Hotel and Resort
May need to up the budget to around £5k tbh.
Any thoughts or experiences welcome again

Unless you pay a hefty premium for a day flight, the packaged flight slots are on really s
t times i.e. you arrive late evening/midnight with similar departure times + transfer on top, so not ideal for younger travellers. The airport is pretty chaotic as all the chartered flights seem to arrive and leave as the same period! It will be hot, very hot.
We went a few years ago and timed it badly during a heatwave. Daily temp throughout the week was around 45C, once hitting 52C. Coolest part of the day was at 5am when it fell to a cool 30C....

(We tend to go the Canary island during off season now (April, May, Dec) as the daily temp sits around a comfortable 20-25C)
Despite the minor cons, my girls had a fab time (great hotel facilities, good food and kids club etc..) as the AI package is a very established market for the Turkish hotels.

We really enjoyed Tui Blue Palm Garden last year (about half an hour from Side). Might push the budget slightly, but worth pricing up.
We went here a couple of years ago - really nice resort, felt very safe and there are a few shops just outside if you wanted. The shading under the big pool was great. Transfer time was a little long (for us anyway). Shame about the regular power cuts.IC Green Palace maybe a little closer to OP's budget (I've not checked).
As others have said, it get hots in the summer, really hot. It's ok in the daytime, but in the evenings/night it's a little much. We've moved back to the Greek islands now (££).

You really can go wrong IME. The 'Five Star' Orka Lotus Beach that we booked for a cheeky last minute week a couple of years ago was utterly rubbish. Yet, it had pretty amazing reviews and lots of them. I'm still kicking myself that I got that one so wrong but I'm not sure what else I could have done from a research point of view. Thanks all, ok flip it then, what alternative would you choose for the budget mentioned.
I like the heat but there are levels to that heat....seems very limited in options.
All other places other than Turkey seem to truly struggle with the concept of a decent water slide.
Mind Lopesan in GC was half decent as was last year in Paphos a Kapetanios Aqua Resort
