My folks are 80 & 84. They don't travel much, but have a couple of overseas trips this year.

They used to have an annual policy, as I do, but let that lapse a few years ago. They are now struggling to get quotes given their age. I've looked at a few and a lot either state under0-80, or just won't quote.

Any recommendations for travel coverage (trip or annual) for the older traveller?

Thanks

Have you tried Staysure. My parents used in later life,

Don't know what they're age limit is.

More importantly they paid out for more than £150,000 worth of medical cover when needed

Saga, Age Co, LV, Staysure, All Clear, Just Travel

There are lots but one of the above will probably do.

Wife and I are both over 80.

In 2024 we used StaySure for a one trip travel insurance policy. We are going to Italy in June 2026 so last week I arranged travel insurance for this trip with AllClear, no problems, and easy to do online. We do have medical conditions. Not cheap for 5 days of cover, but this is an essential item for any o/s travel.

Struggling to find any or find cheap? I don't think cheap exists over 80.

For the same reason cheap doesn't exist for 17 y/o drivers. The stats don't lend themselves to cheap.

Cheap certainly doesn't exist.

They've managed eventually, but they were struggling to get any cover below £1400 for a single 8 day trip or £2000 for annual.

Ended up getting the 8 days covered with insurancewith.com for just under £500.

Is this an option?
https://www.natwest.com/insurance/travel-insurance...

Travel insurance for over 70s or with pre-existing medical conditions
If you or your joint account holder are aged 70 or over, you’ll need to get in touch with us each year to purchase an age extension upgrade. There will then be a £75 annual premium per person aged 70 or over.
