Tip is not expected. Dress code for upmarket restaurant is neat casual. For male, shorts and polos are ok but if its really upmarket then a trousers and a shirt is expected. For female, they can wear anything they want as long as its not showing too much skin tbh. We'll want to chill a bit, and we already have an invitation to brunch one day. Do a couple of night markets and have some really good street food. Have a stroll around chinatown as well. Food is the main thing to do in KL.
Around the KLCC district you can bag a 5-star hotel at a pretty good rate, walk the park, get up close to Petronas Towers and shop and eat to your heart’s content. From there a pedestrian footbridge will take you over to the Bukit Bintang district with more malls and food.
The botanic gardens are nice and peaceful - they’re pretty run down, but there’s a bird park which is quite interesting. Can be screaming hot under the nets though!

Where are you staying?
Use the Skytrain monorail to explore and get your bearings; also metro rail transport is very easy to use even tho you sometimes have a short walk between lines at supposedly connecting stations.
Bath Caves for something different; 40 mins or so north to end-of-line rail station; really just for the steps and mind the monkeys!
Petaling Street market for typical Asian knock-off brands; tbh quality seemed good and prices very good!
The old Central Market just to the west at top of Petaling St has a great range of ethnic stuff and a hawker-style food court upstairs.
Lots of World-class shopping malls if that s your thing.
Ditto any variety of food you fancy, esp at the night markets.
Then as soon as you know it, your time is done!
We loved KL and will go again. Had a week there following a week in Singapore, I wish we d just done 2/3 days SGP and more in KL it s certainly a more authentic Asian city but not as manic as, say, Bangkok or Saigon.
Felt very safe.
