Looking for a 2nd opinion but I feel I know the answer.

Better half is a teacher and so we are limited as to when we can go away.

Without writing my life story out, my question is - will it be too hot? I am a sun-worshipper but I'm reading 41*+ which seems rich, even for me.

Its coming out at a similar price as Cyprus/Crete/Rhodes/etc and I suspect there's good reason.

It was 54 degrees when I stayed over for a couple of nights in August, and I suspect even ~40 wouldn't be the same as a Balearic 40 with a nice sea breeze and lower humidity. So yes - too hot unless you just want spend the trip indoors all the time!

Having lived there for 5 years there's a reason why it's

a) cheap from June > Sept
b) empty from June > Sept

That reason is the heat and humidity. - officially it never gets hotter than 48c (government decrees that it's too hot to work at that point) but in reality mid 50s is commonplace, couple that with 90% + humidity and outside is downright unpleasant during those months, even at night.

The poster above is correct about the humidity making a difference, I worked in Iraq at similar temps but with almost 0 humidity the heat was much more bearable.

In short, I'd pick another location, and I say that as someone who absolutely loves the Middle East!

It'll still be very humid in August so you probably won't enjoy yourselves very much - October half term would be much nicer.

We were there at the same time. Always remember the official line about the temperature, the car used to regularly disagree biggrin -

… and I agree with everything said above.

It should have been EXT but I got confused and used EXE and then didn’t bother changing it biggrin

(Apologies to the OP for going off topic)

First time I went was in Aug many years ago.
It was a cracking deal in a great hotel.

NEVER AGAIN

If you are indoors, great.
Go outside and the sand is too hot to walk on, so that's the beach out.
Come out of the pool and the water evaporates as it hits the floor.
You rush from one A/C item (taxi/ shopping mall / restaurant / hotel) to another.

Go in October / Easter.

I was there in July one year for work. At 1 in the morning it had dropped to 42C. Well over 50C during the day, but our thermometers topped out at 55C

There is a reason the locals all run away to European cities for the summer - not just the heat, humidity will be horrendous too!
August is a good time to visit if you want to fry an eggs on the car bonnet, or swim in the sea that is bath temperature.

No. I've been in Delhi in May/ June - but it is a dry heat and at about 11pm you can be OK outside.

Dubai in August - even at 1am is deeply unpleasant - its the humidity.

I went in August as part of a free 2 day layover with Emirates on the way to Mauritius. I’ve never experienced anything like it. I was training for a triathlon at the time so went for a swim in the sea but the water was too hot to swim. For some reason the pool wasn’t so bad. I always assumed after that they must chill the pool water.

Im firmly in the "do it" camp.

Ive been to the UAE many times in July and August and love it - the heat is immense but everywhere caters for that, pools are chilled, its mostly quiet, hotel prices are on the floor.

Places like Motiongate are completely empty and are great fun because of it.

The only thing I would recommend you avoid is the Souks (Gold, Spice, etc) as these are external and oppressively hot.

I lived there for 6 years and July, August and the first part of September were a challenge. However you got use to it. Chilled Hotel Pools made everything just fine.

They do indeed chill the pool water, and also chill the tiled areas around the pools in much the same way that we would have underfloor heating.

Just pay up and go somewhere good.

Anywhere in Europe is going to be magnitudes better than Dubai.

Useless comment is useless - what a total waste of words and is so extremely subjective (as an example, Id happily take the UAE over anywhere in Europe at any time of the year personally, its safer, warmer, cleaner, people are more polite, etc...)

It’s fine for a short break in Easter or Autumn, it’s not that interesting but neither is Benidorm.

And to boot it’s also oven levels at the time OP is talking about, it would be a truly terrible way to spend some holiday allowance on weather alone - as corroborated almost unanimously on the thread.

As for your other points, I’ve never felt unsafe on holiday in the South of France or Sardinia, neither are dirty, and it’s a pleasant temperature where you can enjoy your holiday without having to worry if the hotel has chilled the pool area. Obviously if you want a bargain basement holiday somewhere that’s usually expensive, Dubai or any other desert could tick that box. Otherwise there’s a reason most people pay the money and go somewhere appropriate.

Yeah....Dubai's terrible, that's why hardly any tourists go there rofl

OP - as others have said that time of the year it's going to be roasting. However my nephew took his family a few years ago and they were fine as they stayed almost the entire holiday in their hotel which AIUI had a waterpark next door. His kids are quite young and they loved it. If you do travel anywhere the cars all have airconditioning and the malls and a lot of the Touristy attractions are indoors so the heat can be avoided.

I'd still rather go in September/ October though smile
