I'll be travelling through Zurich in May, and will have six hours or so between flights into and out of ZRH in the middle of a weekday. Looks like it's only 10-15 minutes to get into town proper.

Where's good for lunch?

What do you fancy, and as it’s Zürich, what’s your budget hehe

A few ideas near the station…

Sausage and Rösti in interesting setting https://www.zeughauskeller.ch/en/home

I’d keep it simple. Old town beer hall. Schnitzel and sides, few pints, potter around and back on the train.

Thanks for that, Zeughauskeller looks interesting.

Budget I'm figuring 50CHF-ish, I can't really go too heavy on the drinking as I have stuff to do later, so food and perhaps a beer or two.

Just figured it was a more interesting layover than sitting in an airport lounge for a couple of hours!

Zeughauskeller is a complete tourist trap, but for good reason and plenty of locals visit too. It’s normally top of the list when we have first time visitors. You’ll be in budget for a main and a couple of beers.

Unfortunately you’ve missed game season. Zürich style veal (item 47 on the menu) is the traditional dish of Zurich and is similar to a stroganoff. The cordon bleu are decent and I’d recommend a Rösti as a side.

It’s about a 10 minute walk down the main shopping street from the main station or the tram stop Paradeplatz is outside. If it’s a nice day, after lunch, continue down the same street for a couple of minutes and you’ll reach the lake.

ETA as you are on your own, you may end up sharing a table.
