Specifically La Rosiere.......

Anyone done this? Looking up the options for April 5th and I'm drawing a blank for all options......my friend seems to suggest that it's just because they don't allow bookings this far in advance? Or is it that everything is totally sold out already?

Any other thoughts/tips on travelling by train welcome, a group of 3 if that makes any difference to the planning.

Yep- looks like tickets are not yet for sale.

SNCF trains currently on sale until 30/03. They will open for April shortly.

I've done this trip many times, did you have any questions

Amazing thanks for confirming.

I assume it's a train from London to Paris, then chance and head to Bourg.....what's our best plan from there to La Rosiere?

It's not a sleeper train is it? I'm assuming it's something like 5 or 6 hours from Paris, so aim to leave early from London and be in the resort later that day?

No sleeper trains on this route.

Something like 09:30 Eurostar arrive Paris 12:50. 14:48 TGV from Gare de Lyon to Chambery then a regional service to Bourg arriving 20:20. There may be a direct TGV but I'm not sure if it still runs in April.

Then I guess a taxi?

Ok thanks for the intel......not quite as rapid as I thought then, rather rules out sorting skis etc on arrival on the Saturday.....

Door to door from my house in the Midlands, I reckon on 7 hours for flying, 12 hours train and 14 hours driving (to Morzine).

Interesting thank you......I shall ponder with my group......I guess if we're up early on the Sunday we can go get skis and head straight to the slopes without much issue, no real need to get skis sorted on Saturday.

Got to be a driving job, shirley?

The drive is an absolutely integral part of the holiday for me. Just the right amount of time to unwind and get into holiday mode. Swapping trains, lugging gear and inevitably sharing space with morons would be my idea of hell :-)

It has crossed my mind, sadly a Mk2 Focus RS with 3 people plus luggage doesn't sound too comfy for that distance.....

Also a good point, now questioning what is making us consider the train.....
