Another New York thread, sorry
Discussion
Hi all
We’re hoping to book a week in New York this winter. Flexible on dates, just nov/dec.
Flying from Heathrow ideally, but again flexible. Want a five star hotel, somewhere central ish. It’ll be two rooms required (one for me wife and toddler) and the other for dad.
We haven’t been for 7 or so years. Last time we stayed at the New York edition, but now that is horrifically expensive.
I’ve been looking at last minute/booking/BA. Anywhere else I should be looking for a good deal? Or any recommendations for hotels etc? Not a set budget as such but £8k would be a nice total number for hotel and flights.
All the hotels I’ve looked at so far also charge a facility fee of around $50 per room per night on top of the advertised price which seems a total racket. So anywhere that doesn’t would be even better!
Thanks in advance

If it is anything like the other cities (eg. Vegas) that charge similar fees, the hotels without the fee aren't magically $50 a night cheaper. All the hotels I’ve looked at so far also charge a facility fee of around $50 per room per night on top of the advertised price which seems a total racket. (There will also be taxes added to the headline prices as well).

I’m a fan of JetBlue for flights to NY - smaller planes so fewer passengers, food is excellent, and there are sometimes great value tickets available in their Mint class. Look them up.We’re hoping to book a week in New York this winter. Flexible on dates, just nov/dec.

New York is mentally expensive so, sorry to say, but while you could flights and 2 rooms in a hotel for a week for £8k, I can’t see it being central and 5 star. May be it’s possible but FWIW we had 4 nights in the Lotte Palace across the weekend that straddled Nov and Dec in 2023 and that was £1k a night for one room.

BA have a few 5 stars that are around £1800 per person inc flights for a week in November. Times Square area. For flights you could try Norse Atlantic Airways - We flew Premium in August, we were very impressed and found it really good value. Book direct on their website. Have flown BA twice as well - but used companion vouchers both times.
Can't help with the hotels as we normally use one of Hilton, Marriott or Holiday Inn - out on Long Island and use the subway or LIRR to get about.
