Any ideas on free street parking or cheap all day car park in W. London on Sundays. Ideally near a tube station. Family want to go to Science Museum, Natural History Museum and maybe some shopping although not all on the same day of course. I live near Reading, so ~1 hour drive rather than pay for train for the family.

Earls Court, West Ken, Barons Court on street parking is free, you can usually park within 5 min walk to the tube stations, in areas that seem pretty safe. The museums are even walkable from there.

They are the places I use, but I come up the M3, it might be worth checking out the parking restrictions in similar areas off the M4

You’re in luck, it couldn’t be easier for the museums on a Sunday! You can park in the spaces in the middle of the road on Queens Gate on a Sunday for free. We’ve done it many times, very easy to get to and as close as you can get! One thing I would mention though is we’ve seen car doors/boots left open on two occasions when going back to the car. I’m not sure if it’s a coincidence or opportunist thieves checking for unlocked cars.

I used Q Park Queensway when I last did this - the museums are a nice walk through Hyde Park or a couple of stops on the Circle Line if the weather is nasty.

For non Londoners, Queensway is actually on the Central Line, but 50m away is Bayswater station on the Circle Line, which will indeed take you to South Kensington and the museums.
