N.B. This probably should go in the F1 thread, but Moderators, it's such a cool thing it should be allowed to stay here a bit for the exposure. Pretty Please smile

This is a "are you going, do you fancy this idea as being A) super cool B) much easier C) a heck of a lot more expensive than SleasyJ or RyanFlare" kind of question.

Long time bucket list for me is Monaco for F1 weekend to watch the GP. Never really happened until my new and awesome partners brother - who goes to Silverstone every year asks me if I wanted to go to Monaco? Does the Pope s**t in the woods?

Anyway, tickets and hotel sourced it was onto transportation. And that's where it goes squirrely. It's over £400 from a random quiet airport, from a big airport like Manchester Jet2 want £800!

So, I went on one of those compare thingies. Only this one does Jet chartering biggrin

In essence, by splitting the cost between us - indicative two grand per person gets to share a private jet with myself and 8 other PHer's to Nice on Friday morning. 1hr 45min flight time and no bs baggage/no bags stuff. Returning on the Monday. Departure airport yet to be determined but that indicative cost is from Bristol. Other locations could be Birmingham or Manchester.

By comparison:
Driving: £500 + tolls (in a 20mpg high end car. Obvs 60mpg Yaris will be cheaper)
Train: £500 ish to London, Eurostar to Paris, TGV Paris to Nice and return
Air: £500 ish depending on route, bags blah blah.

So yeah, it's going to be daft money on top. BUT, you get to fly in a private jet (Gulfstream V or similar).

If you are interested either send me a pm or pop your name down.

P.S I am not 'selling' anything. I don't work for or am connected in any way to charter companies. I just want to live my life doing awesome stuff.
If someone does, and they can get a biz jet big enough for that many people and do it waaaay cheaper do shout up biggrin

In my last CFO role at a family owned company, the MD (owners son) was obsessed with private jets. He booked a private jet for 8 from Oxford to Edinburgh for his stag do. The cost? £17,000.

Given Monaco is further and I'd imagine landing slots will be at a premium you must be looking at £25k for return flights? Of course, if you do have seven others to share the cost with then c£3k a pop might been considered value!?

Should have also said, if it was any GP other than Monaco I might be tempted at c£3k each.

3.5hrs flight time for £20k, with no repositioning costs or extra landing/handling charges, and no flight crew accommodation costs sounds very cheap indeed…

Doesn't it, I'd be surprised if it was less than £3k each all in.

In a previous business, I used a PJ (Cessna Businessjet) to fly to Paris to pick somebody up, and then to Monaco for lunch and return.

The jet's owner was an investor in my business and it still cost £30k.

I'm working off an indicative pricing - I have no idea how much these things cost to run/fly/land etc.

Private jets arent all that in my experience until you get to the bigger ones and they wont be €20k smile

We did it a few times in covid and werent that impressed by the plane itself, security, staff and ease of boarding etc though, very worth it smile

The last dealings I had with a private charter was back in 2019 for 2 people and 1 dog the cost was 20k euros.
That was MAN>PMI>MAN on a Citation so similar duration but smaller aircraft.

If you can get 8 pax with light baggage for £16k in 2025 I think it is a very, very good deal.

I'm not in a position to do this sort of thing due to health but it's something I want to do and I think it's a snip! I hope you make it happen.

Round trip ot Nice will be £30-40k depending on equipment

If you're expecting a Gulf V it will be at least 50% more! Think CJ mid size or similar

Won't prices be inflated because of why you are going?

Honestly if you have the money to waste do it but you can probably get BA and first class down there for about £300 quid each.

I think you prices might be off. It might cost you £2k per person in a turboprop aircraft and closer to double that for a jet.

Even the 650ER that is based at Stansted is not "big enough", which has really put me off getting one. Nice comparison of the biggest private jet cabins here, none of them are over 6'5 in the middle:

https://www.globalair.com/articles/check-out-5-of-...

I understand Trump's 757/200 is a converted commercial jet (rather than the VIP version) which seems to be better as it has 10' cabin ceilings (rather than 7' in the VIP version.)

Ambitious.

We organise this trip fairly regularly and the most recent one for two people was closer to £30k for roundtrip from Manchester.

That's certainly no gulfstream either!
