Spending 10 days in France next July.

Driving down and then plan to spend 5 days in the South/South East.

Day trips to Antibes, Nice, Monaco and spend time sat around a pool before spending the next 5 days making our way back up North.

Would ideally like to be rural or on the edge of a village/commune.

ETA: Staying between Fayence and Claviers

Currently considering Saint-Paul-de-Vence, does anyone have any better suggestions?
You could try somewhere near this place, ideally situated for all the places you want to visit.

You may get a better deal if you stay 7 nights Sat-Sat in the south. We have had many holidays there , we find the area east of Cannes a bit busy.
Have a look at Theoule and Antheor.
We do a bit of sightseeing on the way down and return with one overnight stop near Dijon, and using Eurotunnel.
Of course it depends where you are in UK/how far from Dover

I do it every year.

Saint-Paul is lovely. Saint-Remy de Provence is worth a look - great little town. Fayence, Grasse and Frejus should also be on your list. Come back for more if they don't butter your croissant.

A lovely part of the world and I'll be there next year for a few weeks. I note that the EES/ETIAS visa requirement is still on the table for 2025, so be sure to stay on top of that.

Thanks for the suggestion but we just don't have enough time to stay for 7 days.

Will look at the places you've suggested.

Thankyou

Will check those out.

We've booked the Eurotunnel for Monday 14th - Thursday 24th July

Look up potential stops on the Michelin Guide website. It does hotels and bib restaurants, which are very good but not star grade. Drive Gorge de Verdon and Route Napoleon (Grasse to Grenoble). Have fun as that part of the world is beautiful.

St Paul de Vence is fantastic. Other places worth a visit are Mougins and Grasse.

My then girlfriend (now wife) and I spent a lovely 10 days in Agay years ago.

We were skint so camped.
Flew with Easyjet with all our camping gear, hired a Fiesta and drove until we found somewhere nice smile
This was before everything was online so only the flight and hire car was booked (by phone).

Thankyou all for your suggestions.

We found an Airbnb with pool in Saint Paul de Vence so will look to book this evening.

We will (hopefully) be travelling down in a Cayman GT4, my partner is happy for me to go off and do some driving whilst she stays by the pool.

Does anyone have any recommendations for must-do driving roads near?

Route Napoleon
Col de la Bonette

Are two close enough to SPdV that I'd earmarked.

We will also look to day trip to Antibes and Monaco so if there are roads worth driving along the way.

Thanks to the above posters who suggested Millau Viaduct, this was on my list, will be heading to it on the return leg back to the UK.

We are planning on travelling down the East, visiting Reims Gueux along the way to the South.

Then travelling up the West on the return leg. Visiting Mont-Saint-Michel and back to the Eurotunnel.

Your better off driving down into millau and look at the bridge while having lunch , driving across it is a non event . I’ve been over a few times and once matey in the passenger seat turned round and said “ was that it “
The road down into millau and back up the other side is great and much more fun than across the bridge itself .

If you are heading west on your return journey, cafe leoube (at Chataeu Leoube) is a nice place to visit. Beautiful cafe under the olive trees directly onto the beach. Owned by Lord Bamford

Whilst in SPdV have lunch or dinner at La Columb d'Or and take in the grand masters hung in the dining room. Invaluable art collection. Also try the Grill at the top of Hotel de Paris, souffle to die for and justify the calories by walking the circuit afterwards. Ferry Cannes to St Margueritte and eat at La Gueritte or Ile Honorat and eat at La Tonnelle. Better still rent a boat at Port de la Rague and drive out to the islands for the day with a picnic, swimmers and champers. Boats will come around selling ice cream, coffees and pizza.

Looks great, thanks for the tip

We tried to book an Airbnb in SPdV last night, but unfortunately woke up this morning to the owner rejecting our stay as it was only for 4 nights.

Back to the drawing board to look for a place to stay!

This is the hotel we always stay in it is inside the barrier and next to the free bus to the mount.
