Heading to Barcelonain in November and looking for advice re what area to stay in ,

Obviously want to see the sagrada famillia , la pedrera and parc guell,

The gothic quarter looks goid because of the old buildings but Exiample area looks a better location for sagrada whilst Gracia is better for parc gruell.

Which area would you pick.

We stayed around the Plaça d'Espanya would recommend that area, very handy for bus and metro stops, only about 10/15 mins into the centre.

As a side it's worth getting a T-Casual ticket, we only got zone 1.

Definitely Eixample of those two for me - gothic quarter is just too busy and you can pay through the nose for average hotels. Lots of restaurants are average as they have a captive audience. Eixample gives you a nice sense of space due to the street design and some of the apartment blocks are really stunning to look at if you look up. Gràcia is really nice as well but just a bit further out, although public transport is good enough to get you anywhere you want to go

We went last October and stayed in the Room Mate Gerard hotel halfway between Eixample amd the Gothic Quarter, just East of Placa De Catalunya - would stay there again.

We walked the length and breadth of Barcelona and reckoned it was the perfect location (for us); easy walk to Gothic Quarter, Eixample, El Born, great restaurants and coffee shops, and far enough away from the tourist trap that is La Rambla!

I recently went away for a dirty weekend, stayed at the Occidental Diagonal 414 which was very nice for the reasonable price. That’s a fairly decent area close to Metro and calm.

Ate at Prodigi restaurant very close to hotel. Excellent tasting menu including paired wines for 120Eur each. Not my usual dinner of choice but incredible flavours and top level service.

i don't rate Barcelona. Been a few times and have come to this conclusion eventually. Unless you really want a city that also has a beach, or you're a gaudi nut or really want to see segrada familia, or maybe you're going to sonar in june, i think it's not even in the top 5 cities in spain.

sorry that doesn't help you at all but i think it's quite a default choice that many people seem to make.

Agreed with the above. Would go for eixample (if possible would try to stay near-ish placa de catalunya) and just hop on the metro to get around the gothic quarter/barceloneta which can be a bit too busy and/or manky. Plenty of good restaurants in all price ranges one can find with a bit of effort so finding a good meal there should be quite easy I'd say. Per above, definitely get a t-casual (it actually can get you from the airport as well with a zone1 card).

I'd recommend catching a show here if you can - https://www.palaumusica.cat/en

Lovely venue inside no matter what's on - we went to the Spanish guitar trio / Spanish dancing show which tends to be on fairly regularly and was really enjoyable:
