Mrs BC and I have had an annual policy with Allianz in place for some years. We cruise 3-4 times a year and never had an issue. We just booked a cruise with Cunard rather than our usual Seabourn. The travel agent went out of her way to say that we need ‘Cruise Specific Travel Insurance’. I checked with Allianz who sent me their cruise cover details as below. I also checked the Cunard website and it seems to me that our cover is more than adequate.

Any thoughts?

I don’t see anything wrong with that. I’ve just renewed out annual travel insurance with Saga. It covers cruises up to 60 days at a time, 180 days away per year. Usual missed ports, airlift to hospital, etc. 20k per person in case of cancellation, £700 per day per person if confined to room.

I’ve just insured with Holidaysafe and like most of them I’ve found you need to specify that you’re going on a cruise. I think it was £170 extra if I remember correctly.

It was a bit of a shocker the quotes we were getting. Seemingly our ages and the fact we were going to the Bahamas pushed them up to over £1k. For some reason Holidaysafe were nearly half for what looks like the same cover.

And I thought £370 was expensive last year for Japan.

It’s a bit of a b****r getting older but the alternative isn’t too appealing so on we go.
