8 hours in Nassau

I'm after ideas on how to spend 8 hours in Nassau. Our internal flight lands at 1pm and our flight back to the UK departs at 10:50pm. I figure that gives us just under 8 hours to spend in Nassau. I haven't booked the internal flight yet, so we could get there earlier (or later), but I figure a 1pm arrival to be the right balance between a relaxed departure and contingency in case of issues with the internal flight. We would leave our luggage at the airport.
I understand that parts of Nassau are best avoided, but I'm unsure where these are.
The main things I'm looking for are:
Some lively bars
A bit of tourist tat
Some of the "James Bond" vibe
Somewhere nice for an early dinner (6pm - 8pm), nice food, nice view, relaxed atmosphere - absolutely not formal or stuffy.
I have no interest in any type of "Resort"
Anyone got any personal recommendations / guidance? Thanks
