Quick one.

So you go in, tell them how much you want, fill up and the pump stops automatically. Easy.

What if the pump doesn't stop, you get an extra €5 of fuel and then drive off without realising until you've dropped the hire car off?

no...when required, they swipe your card for an authorisation and then you fill up

No...

I asked for €15, paid €15, filled up with around €20. Every other time I've filled up in Spain, the pump has automatically cut off when it's reached the amount I've asked for.

I assume they just charge me the extra but I was a bit concerned I'd end up with a fine from Repsol in about two months laugh

While we're asking questions about Spanish petrol stations...

I have a motorbike with a clear tank, filled up in Spain and the petrol was green from one place (obviously I didn't panic and thought I had filled up with diesel) and then a couple of days later filled up somewhere else and it was blue. What's that about?
