Must do stuff around Montélimar/Aubenas
Discussion
Just posting incase anyone has any *must do* recommendations, we (me/wife and our two boys 7 &11) are staying at a Eurocamp between Montelimar and Aubenas but I hope to wrench them away from the swimming pool for at least a few days…
On my list so far is:
Mont Ventoux (A bit of a drive out but I don’t expect we’ll be this close again anytime soon)
A day trip to at least one of Arles, Orange or Avignon (for the Roman stuff)
The gorges of the Ardeche
Other than that: we like the outdoors and a bit of history. Don’t drink wine, so all the vineyards and chateau are wasted on us. Not bothered about cuisine…

We stayed with Eurocamp there in 2011, so my children would have been a similar age to yours now. I remember renting a Kayak with my son and doing the river and gorges thing. As I can recall we went to Arles and also did a train (steam?) ride through some hills. On my list so far is:

Whilst we’d booked there for 2 weeks following a week in Paris after the first week we transferred to the Dordogne, where we’d been many times previously and prefer that area of France.
With boys of that age, I would limit trips away to 1 in 3 days. Enjoy your holiday.
1. Pont d'Arc and Chauvet Cave
2. La Grotte de Saint-Marcel
3. The Lavender Fields of Drôme Provençale
4. Aven d'Orgnac
5. The Village of Vogüé
6. The Cascades du Sautadet
7. Forest Adventure Parks (e.g., Indian Forest Ardèche, Adventure Camp in Grospierres)
8. The Château de Grignan
Enjoy your trip!
