Air BNB / Villa Mallorch 2025

I was trying to get organised and book something for next year well in advance so that I don't miss out on availibility.

I've tried booking a couple of Air BNB for July '25 and had both bookings no accepted due to rates not getting arranged until November.

Is this fairly normal and is there an optimum time to book?

I've only ever booked hotels before, the Villa stay looks to be ideal for the family and quite cost effective.

We stayed in Majorca with VillaPlus a few weeks ago, very smooth experience. They have rates up for next July.

It's quite common with AirBnb (and SOME other accommodation booking websites, including big hotels). The biggest challenge I find with booking that far ahead is there's always the question as to whether there is genuinely no availability for those dates, or whether it's just because you're too early. I've had places on AirBnb that were fully booked for the dates I wanted 14 months in advance, and other places where they just haven't updated their prices. There are also places where you think you've booked it, but then it gets cancelled an hour later.

Some travel companies (e.g. Simpson Travel) will let you reserve the weeks you want prior to prices being released for a £500 refundable deposit. Then when the prices are released you have 10 days to make up your mind.

It is quite frustrating really, as Brittany Ferries now release their booking quite early (mid July for Spain 2025) and you have to pounce on these quickly otherwise the decent cabins are all gone.
