Fish, meat, bistro that sort of thing. It's a family trip so we won't be doing fine dining.

Any tips appreciated please.

We just came back a few weeks ago. I will be very mainstream though! biggrin

Figlmüller Bäckerstraße - Top schnitzel
Joseph Brot - Breakfast
Lugeck - Schnitzels again but a few more choices.
Cafe Demel - Top bakery, and deserts quite traditional.
Motto am Fluss - Mostly lunch or fine dining, on the canal

I do not think you can do anything worse in general though, in most central areas the food is quite good.

One of my favourite places in spring to visit especially, super-civilized and full of culture, enjoy!

So not mid-August then!

Thanks for the tips.

Vegetarian, but stay with me as this was probably the best meal of our last trip to Vienna. It’s the casual dining outlet of a one starred vegetarian restaurant in a different location. Sharing menu, really flavourful, relaxed atmosphere.

For Figlmüller and Lugeck, I would book in advance. They are quite popular!

I was there in June for work and a local took us to Heurigen Weindorfer. The food was great but not too 'fancy/fine dining' so might fit the bill.
