Could do with any recommendations for finding a large house / cottage / whatever to rent for a week - probably May ish next year.
Ourselves , kids , grandchildren, FIL and my Mother.
Need around 6 bedrooms maybe 7 with max occupancy say 10 adults.
Games room a must and preferably with pool.
Midlands ish but fairly broad minded.
Ideally with local pubs etc within easy distance.
Have looked at the usual suspects on line but just wondered if anyone had previously done this ?
No idea on budget but let’s say £5k for the accommodation unless that proves to be impossible.
TIA.

Have you looked on AirB&B, nearly £1k a night should get you a pool easily in a 5/6 bed house with grounds.

We just did this exact type of holiday, and it was about £5k for the week just as you are looking for.

We went to the Cotswolds water park area and it was absolutely brilliant. It was my family and my brothers family, and my parents. So an age range of 3 to 73.

https://lowermillestate.com (and other nearby lakes* under different names are available)

We did an holiday home from these people here. The house was amazing. Right on the lake, barbecue, hot tub, big decking/balcony area:

https://www.orionholidays.com

On the water park area there was an indoor and outdoor pool, bar, restaurant, sports, and loads of quiet estate roads which the kids can cycle and run about on.

Because of the location, you can do loads of stuff within 1 hour of the water park area. Something different every day if you want to keep grandkids busy: Legoland, Cotswold Farm Park (Adam Hensons place and excellent), Bouton on the water, Cotswold Wildlife Park. All really good. Plenty of good pubs around as well.

  • Caveat: They aren't actually real lakes as such.... They started life as massive sand and gravel quarries and are now a nature reserve.

First time we have been and it was fantastic. Would recommend to anyone.

The estate is really great, and there is so much to do within 30-60 mins drive. The lavender fields, Daylesford, farm parks, kids stuff, etc

Thanks very much for taking the time to post this - and to BS for his secondment. Definitely worth a look to see if it fits with the " demands " of those " invited " !

Cameron House Loch Lomond is a 5 star hotel and has Lodges that should fit the bill with access to all the hotel amenities we tend to go up with the grandparents and kids once or twice a year. Loads to do.

The Lower Mill place looks great, but have people been in May when it's potentially not so hot? Looks like a lot of the stuff (swimming pool, lake activities) is outdoors and if it's not overly hot I can imagine it's not much fun?

Swimming pool , sauna, steam rooms, tennis courts, kayak on the lakes can do that all year round. What did you have in mind to do in May? Outdoor pool is heated. It’s a massive nature reserve so there’s walks to do, bikes to hire and local pubs and sights to visit.

It’s just a very peaceful place to be, relax, unwind, stress free holiday in stunning surroundings.

Think of it as an air bnb with facilities.

Funnily enough it’s not the actual temperature of weather that my various family members are concerned about but more about whether it’s dry or not hence the potential “ need “ for an indoors game room.
I’m already slightly regretting the idea on the basis of not being able to please all of them anyway so may just issue the invite on a “ mystery “ basis only !
