Will be going on long haul holiday with my girlfriend and her ten year old daughter, who, er, I'm not close to. Don't live together, finances totally separate.

Normally we wouldn't be sat together on the plane anyway (because of daughter), but a 700 quid upgrade to business class came up so I booked it for myself. Just myself.

Her mum is unimpressed. Views?

Demonstrating your alpha masculinity straight out of the gates, admirable really.

Can’t imagine why you aren’t close to her daughter.

You did the right thing, for a guy who wants to go on holiday alone. Be sure to get separate transfers & separate hotels (pay extra for the nice hotel just for yourself)

While you're at it, I hear there are single people in bars, maybe you could go to one and try your luck.

Why does the daughter prevent you from sitting together on the plane?

For the same reason I assume you have separate rooms - yours is, of course, an upgraded room with larger balcony and a sea view.

I flew business class once, with wife & her kids in economy.

I sent her back a couple of glasses of champagne.

We are still married.

I was figuring something like that, maybe getting them lounge access. Thanks for the support.

I am probably missing something obvious but why wouldn't you normally book three seats together?

You'll normally get one of them lounge access anyway...... now which one do you leave outside?

In my defence by the way it just so happened we were on the same flight as I had to travel back to the UK for a business trip which just happened to coincide with them returning from a visit to see me.

As far as I am aware, cabin crew are not usually keen on premium refreshments being sent back from Club to those in steerage...
