Dear wise PH massive.

We are off to a villa near Coin, flying in to Malaga in a week or two.
And team "The Doc" likes a nice family beach to lounge upon.
We have a car and we look to be 30 mins inland from Fuengirola.

Suggestions for such a beach please.

Likes: sand, beach hut/bar, maybe rent a pedalo, happy to pay € for loungers.
Dislikes: Tattoos, shouting, signs written in English, Los arcos dorados.

Ta !

Really love Cabopino - sandy beach in a sheltered spot, marina nearby with restaurants/parking etc - halfway between Marbella and Fuengirola

things change fast in Spain - so can't give an up todate recommend, BUT....
just west of 'Fuengi' is 'La Cala'....which is a quiet spot, and that's unlikely to have changed !

along the beach are a few bars with loungers and am pretty sure that there's pedalos and possibly even one of those floating 'kids fun things'....shd be much quieter than Fuengi.

can easily make a days exploration early in yr hol....between Fueng and marbella there's a load of possibles....could try Marbella itself, and if your family dynamic is people watching too - then Puerto Banus is worth a gander ( big boats/flashy cars ) but not cheap to eat -drink there. Walking west out of the Port along the beacj shd bring you another truckload of contenders for lounging.

not sure how far the 'Paseo' stretches these days, but in places it was poss to walk miles alongside the beachfront - stopping off at the eateries for a drink and deciding which is worthy of a longer stay.

Yes, Cabopino is good - I’ve been there many times.

Easy parking nearby on the local roads and a short walk downhill.

Slightly tongue in cheek answer, but check out Trip Advisor reviews for restaurants. If there's one or more Indian Restaurants in the Top Ten, avoid the place.

If you do go to La Cala i can heartily recommend this restaurant, its just behind the beach at the far end of La Cala. Its run by two friends of mine and is really well rated, they do a mix of traditional tapas and some other slightly more creative stuff.

Just make sure you turn left towards Andy's Bar as you approach the beach - your wife and kids might see more than they bargained for if you head to the right !

The Los Boliches end of Fuengirola has a very nice beach. Lots of local families holiday there. Never seen any rowdiness in the 10 or so times we have been.

This is all really great. Thank you.

I love advising people of *my* local knowledge, the insider info from feet on the ground, and now karma is returned.

Any more suggestions still appreciated.

La Gamba is 100.1% in the book for a visit now.
Feedback to die for!

I showed the photos to my boy (10) who's a seafood addict, and he immediately said yes.
So as long as they have a fridge and some local beer, we're in.

Which reminds me, I always drink the local birra/grog, even if it's just the correct country.
What should the connoisseur, sorry conocedora be trying?
I'm willing to try a few smile

If you have more than one meal slot to fill in La Cala then I recommend Trattoria Angelo. One of my favourite places.

Coin is where the failed soap Eldorado was filmed, I wonder if you can access the set anymore?

The most local beer I’ve come across is San Miguel, there’s a bloody great factory right next to Malaga airport!

San Miguel is always a good shout - it's everywhere back home though. When we went to Mallorca I was buying cans of Mahou from the local Spar - both red and green are lovely refreshing drinks - green probably my fave lick

I wonder if the Welsh transvestite lady still sings in the bars?
