Gatwick - parking and pickup

I've not been to Gatwick in probably 20 years but on Tuesday I've got to pick up my son in the afternoon.
Can anyone please recommend a decent place to park or advise me on the current rules.
Bristol airport (my local go to) is a total rip-off charging £6.00 for 10 minutes and the fly in the ointment for me is the fact that my lad hasn't got his phone with him (long story) so he can't ring me when he's through customs.

You can park for free for 2hrs in the long stay car parks at Gatwick. There's a free shuttle bus for passengers from the terminal to long stay at both North and South terminal.

Go to the long stay parking of whichever terminal he is flying in to. You can meet here for free. He will need to get dedicated bus from whichever terminal he is landing at. The bus is clearly marked 'Long Stay Drop Off', they are the bendy busses.

North Terminal the collection point is bottom floor, walk out the exit and turn left, bus stop is by the smoking shelter.

South Terminal it's the opposite, and is on the top floor at the end of the long walkway.

You can drive into the long stay car park to meet him, the barriers will let you back out again.

Shame Heathrow don't do the same, you only get 30mins free parking there

You can also use the Short Stay at "Roll Up" prices.

Parking within our short term car parks offers minimal walking distances and a convenient location close to the terminal.

Prices:

Up to 30 mins: £6.00
31 - 60 mins: £10.00
1 - 2 hours: £15.50

Take Care though, I booked Short Stay recently and it took 20 mins for a space to appear.
