Heads up it's that time of year , anyone travelling to Alberta/British Columbia soon might wish to reconsider .Alberta currently has 176 fires with 54 out of control , Jasper is half gone and still burning , and structural fires are reported around Banff .Golden BC now has fires burning too, lots of highway closures and serious lack of accommodation due to evacuees . Be warned .

I'm in BC at the moment. No material wildfires in the south, I was in Whistler and there is no wildfire impact or smoke from elsewhere.

I spoke to a firefighter yesterday who was stationed in the north of the province where there was plenty. Alberta is seeing a ton of fires. Jasper is suffering a major fire and some structural losses yesterday. Further down the Icefields Parkway had other alerts active. If your holidays included Banff, Lake Louise or Jasper in the coming weeks it may be worth getting a rebooking or refund asap.
